Initiatives Taken by IFFCO India to Help Farmers Body

The Indian Farmers Fertilisers Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) has been constantly working towards the well-being of Indian farmers as well as the agricultural sector of the country. The multi-cooperative society is one of the best and largest manufacturers of fertilisers in India, with around 19% market share in Urea and 29% market share in complex fertilisers. Under the guidance of their managing director, Dr US Awasthi, IFFCO India has made some remarkable contributions towards the growth of the country’s agricultural sector.

Initiatives by IFFCO

To help Indian farmers nurture their lives well, Dr US Awasthi has launched some great initiatives through the cooperative, like:

  • Kisan Sewa Fund - Established back in the year 2001, this scheme was initially launched to help the victims of the Gujarat earthquake under which almost 2000 houses were built. This scheme is still functioning and helps farmers by providing them medical and healthcare assistance during natural calamities.
  • Baarish Bima Yojana – In association with IFFCO Tokio General Insurance Company (ITGI), this index-based weather insurance product was launched, aimed at helping farmers during the monsoons. It provides protection to farmers against foreseen deficiency in crop yield during excessive as well as deficit rainfall.
  • Indian Cooperative Digital Platform – Adding another accolade to their name, the IFFCO MD has launched this initiative, generally known as ICDP, which is aimed at establishing a single and unified portal to help meet all the requirements of a farmer. The Indian Cooperative Digital Platform comes in 13 major Indian languages with a membership of almost 2.5 crores.
  • iMandi – this is an e-commerce platform which allows farmers to shop for their agricultural needs, access other consumer goods, and avail insurance services, as well as loans. The iMandi app also allows farmers to attain vocational training and education, access healthcare facilities, rent tractors, as well as allows them to listen to music.

Keeping up with the trend of social media, Dr US Awasthi is active on LinkedIn, wherein he shares updates about the latest trends in the agricultural sector. He has won a lot of awards and recognition as well as many hearts because of his selfless contribution towards the well-being of Indian farmers and the agricultural sector.
